Welcome to Zen and the Martial Arts
This blog introduces readers to the Zen roots of Japanese empty hand martial arts.
My goal is to help you elevate your Karate practice, through the principles of Shaolin martial arts, through training to unify the Body, Mind, and Spirit into a single, highly effective practice.
Our Origin Story in 3 Parts
For over 1,000 years, the Shaolin Temple was the preeminent martial arts school in Asia. As a Zen temple, their goal was to perfect training the Mind. Their unique approach was to train the Body and Spirit as pathways to perfect training the Mind.
Below is my blog’s origin story in 3 parts. In Part 1, I introduce you to a new student with a common problem. In Part 2, the Sensei explains the unique advantages of his approach to training. And, in Part 3, the Sensei explains the complete path from beginner to master.
I hope you enjoy my blog. Please rate my stories and leave a comment when you have finished reading them. And, please share my blog with others.
Enjoy.
